Hayat Shawwa is a Licenced School Social Worker as well as a Licenced Clinical Social Worker. With her unique training, Hayat specializes in incorporating Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) competencies in everyday practice with her clients and students. Hayat works with Green Hill’s community to develop and execute clinically informed academic and career plans. She facilitates weekly groups and meets with individuals one-on-one.
Hayat earned her Master’s in Social Work from North Carolina State University where she also earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in International Studies. Along with her position at Green Hill, Hayat serves as Needham Broughton High School’s Student Assistance Program Coordinator where she works with emerging adults on socio-emotional learning, career and college readiness, and personal-social growth.
Hayat is passionate about working with adolescents and emerging adults on career and college readiness by incorporating a strengths-based perspective that is tailored to each individual. Due to her numerous educational experiences, Hayat has the ideal skill set to connect with the emerging adults of the Green Hill community, preparing and coaching them to achieve their academic and career goals.

Hayat is a Raleigh native and enjoys traveling and coaching recreational swimming for young children. She has been to over 10 countries spanning 3 different continents.
