Admissions Process

Getting Started Is Easier Than You Think

Our Admissions Process

We made getting started as simple as possible. Here’s what to expect:
01

Call

Reach out by phone or form and one of our admissions specialists will connect with you quickly — no pressure, no obligation, just a conversation with a real professional about how we can help.

02

Insurance Check

We'll verify your insurance benefits on your behalf so you know exactly what your coverage looks like before you make any decisions.

03

Clinical Screen

A brief clinical screening helps us understand what you're going through and make sure we're the right fit for your needs.

04

Program Match

Based on your screening, we'll recommend the level of care that makes the most sense for where you are right now — whether that's our Substance Use PHP or IOP, Mental Health IOP, or simply an appointment for therapy and medication support with a psychiatrist or medication provider.

05

Start Date

Once everything is in place, we'll get you scheduled and make sure you know exactly what to expect before your first day. In most cases we can have you starting as soon as the next day — because when you're ready to get better, waiting shouldn't be part of it.

We Are In-Network With Most Major Insurance Plans

Green Hill Recovery accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna/Evernorth, Aetna, UNC Health Alliance, Optum/United, the NC State Health Plan, TRICARE, Ambetter, and more. We file all claims on your behalf.

WHAT TO EXPECT — WEEK 1 OF DAY TREATMENT (PHP)

Starting something new is rarely easy — but we work hard to make your first week feel manageable. Here’s what it typically looks like:

Your first day begins with a brief assessment so we can understand what’s going on and start building your treatment plan. From there you’ll meet with a therapist or psychiatrist — one of the first of many conversations that will shape your care. You’ll go through a short orientation so you know who’s on your team, what your schedule looks like, and what to expect each day.

By the middle of your first week you’ll be in group sessions, working alongside others who understand what you’re going through. Your treatment plan will start to take shape around your specific needs, your goals, and what’s getting in the way of feeling like yourself.

Our team’s first priority in Week 1 is simple: making sure you feel stable, supported, and like you made the right call.

WHAT TO EXPECT — WEEK 1 OF OUTPATIENT TREATMENT (IOP)

Your first week in IOP follows a similar path — just on a schedule that fits around your life. You’ll start with an assessment and an appointment with a therapist or psychiatrist who will get to know you and begin building your treatment plan.

From there you’ll be introduced to your team and join your first group sessions. IOP moves at a pace that lets you apply what you’re learning in real time — at work, at home, and in your relationships. That’s by design.

By the end of your first week you’ll have a clear picture of your treatment plan, a team that knows your name, and a schedule that works for where you are right now.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

PHP, or Day Treatment, is our most structured level of outpatient care — meeting Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. IOP, or Outpatient Treatment, meets three days a week and is designed for people who need significant support but have work, school, or family commitments that require a more flexible schedule. Both programs offer the same integrated clinical team and individualized care.

Most people are in Day Treatment for two to six weeks, depending on their individual needs and progress. Your treatment team will work with you to determine the right length of stay.
Most people are in Outpatient Treatment for four to eight weeks, depending on their needs. As with all of our programs, your timeline is built around you — not a fixed schedule.
Day Treatment meets Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM — five hours a day, five days a week.
Our daytime IOP meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Our evening IOP meets Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Both options are nine hours per week.
The cost of Day Treatment depends on your insurance coverage. Green Hill is in-network with most major insurance plans, and verifying your benefits is the fastest way to understand what your out of pocket costs will look like. Verify Your Insurance
Like PHP, the cost of Outpatient Treatment is largely determined by your insurance plan. We’re in-network with most major carriers and will verify your benefits on your behalf. Verify Your Insurance
In most cases, yes. Green Hill is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna/Evernorth, Aetna, UNC Health Alliance, Optum/United, the NC State Health Plan, TRICARE, Ambetter, and more. Verifying your insurance is free and takes only a few minutes. Verify Your Insurance
For IOP, absolutely. Our daytime and evening schedule options are specifically designed to work around jobs, school, and other responsibilities. For PHP, it depends on your situation. The program runs Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, which allows for some flexibility outside of those hours. If your job requires more time away, we can help you explore FMLA leave — the Family and Medical Leave Act allows eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of protected, unpaid leave for medical treatment. Our team can help support that process.
For IOP, yes — our scheduling options are built with exactly that in mind. For PHP, it depends on your class schedule. Talk to our admissions team and we’ll help figure out what’s possible.
Keep it simple. Bring a current list of your medications and plan to arrive about 15 minutes early to your first appointment to take care of any remaining paperwork. Before your first day, our team will be in touch to make sure you have everything you need — you won’t be left guessing.
Your day includes a mix of individual and group therapy sessions, time with your treatment team, and structured programming built around your plan. Group sessions are a core part of the experience — they’re where a lot of the real work happens. Your schedule will be consistent so you know what to expect each day.
A good place to start is asking yourself whether your mental health or substance use is getting in the way of your daily life — your relationships, your work, your ability to function the way you want to. If the answer is yes, or even maybe, it’s worth a conversation. You don’t need to be in crisis to reach out. Our team can help you figure out whether treatment makes sense and what level of care fits your situation.
Yes. All of our programs are outpatient, which means you live at home throughout treatment. This is intentional — we believe the best care happens in the context of your real life, not away from it.
That depends entirely on you. Your treatment team will work with you to assess your progress and adjust your plan as you go. The goal is always to give you the right level of support for where you are — not to keep you longer than you need, and not to move you along before you’re ready.
