Joey Porchetta

Program Facilitator

Joey Porchetta is a program Facilitator at Green Hill Recovery. Working in the Transitional Living program, Joey lives life alongside clients and helps them as they navigate the ups and downs of early recovery. He finds great purpose in helping young adults to find their path through adversity, offering encouragement and support every step of the way. Joey is new to Raleigh and is very excited to be a part of the Green Hill team.

Prior Experience

Joey has been working in the recovery field for the past two years. In 2019, he was certified through FAVOR Greenville as a certified recovery coach and began working at Hope for Families Recovery Center in Greenville, SC. At HFF, Joey helped facilitate IOP groups and worked individually with clients at the peer support level.

In January of 2019, he took a recovery coaching job at Pavillon’s IOP in Greenville. At Pavillon, he worked alongside a wonderful clinical staff. He helped facilitate IOP groups and took on a larger peer support role with clients at the outpatient level. He was also responsible for some case management duties and helped broker clients to community recovery support.

Professional Passion

Joey is in recovery and feels uniquely qualified to help those struggling with substance use disorders. He feels it is an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to participate in one’s journey to wellness. He has experience as a client and professional in addiction treatment settings, giving him a great understanding of what Green Hill residents are going through. Joey also played lacrosse at Franklin and Marshall college and has found great joy coaching high school and youth lacrosse in sobriety. He hopes to finish his bachelor’s degree and hone in on a career path upon graduation.

More About Joey

Joey grew up in Westfield, NJ and moved to Greenville, SC to get sober in June of 2017. He began to work in the recovery field, coach lacrosse, and date a sweet southern belle named Ashley. Joey and Ashley were married in April 2020 and together moved to Raleigh in late July, with their precious goldendoodle Oakley, to start their life together. Outside of work, you can find Joey running and cycling every inch of Oak City. He enjoys watching AS Roma soccer, Formula 1 racing, and the New York Football Giants.
